BRITISH ARMY - NATIONALITY
Applicants will be eligible if they are a bona fide RESIDENT of the United Kingdom or the Irish Republic, and, are also one of the following:

Commonwealth citizen. This term includes a British citizen; a citizen of the British dependent territories; a British overseas citizen; a British subject under the British Nationality Act 1981; a citizen of an independent Commonwealth country; British Protected Person; Citizen of the Irish Republic.

The above has no relevance if the applicant IS NOT a full resident of Britain with full right of abode. The exception being if the applicant is a citizen of Nepal.

THE TRIPARTITE AGREEMENT (TPA) 1947
The TPA clearly implies that the Gurkha soldier must be recruited as a Nepali citizen, must serve as a Nepali citizen, and must be resettled as a Nepali citizen.

The TPA reflects the UK Government’s obligations to Nepal in return for the privilege of being allowed to recruit the Gurkha from the hills of Nepal, to train him as a soldier and to resettle him at the end of his service in the land of his birth with a proper pension. Throughout service the Gurkha is a full British soldier subject to the same laws, regulations and duties as any other British soldier (including taking the soldiers oath of allegiance) save certain cultural, religious and national allowances per the TPA. Only suitable genuine citizens of Nepal may apply.

Then there’s always the Mine Clearance Battalion in Basra?

If the person posting this message left their e-mail address, we inserted some random characters to prevent spammers from harvesting their address. Spammers do this with automated "bots" that constantly search the Web looking for e-mail addresses. Since you're a human being, not a bot, you can easily obtain the real address by removing the text that says "ThisisToPreventSpam-XYZ-RemoveThis." including the random number XYZ and the period at the end. For example, <whitten@ThisIsToPreventSpam-123-RemoveThis.despammed.com> would become <chris-(@)-interesting.com>.
